- Clutch & flywheel diagnosis: Pedal feel test, slip test in 4th/5th gear, hydraulic system pressure check on your Volkswagen Vento.

Does my Vento need a dual-mass flywheel with the clutch?
Only if it has one and it has actually failed. The 1.5 TDI runs a dual-mass unit; the petrols do not. With the gearbox out we measure rotational play against the factory limit and show you the reading. Within limits, we leave it alone. Beyond them it must be replaced, because a tired flywheel will destroy a new clutch inside twenty thousand kilometres.
Why does my clutch pedal go soft when it is hot?
Heat exposes what a cool system hides — usually a slave cylinder seal that has begun to weep, or air that has crept into the hydraulic circuit. We pressure-test the line, find the leak point, replace the failed cylinder and bleed the system properly. It is a ₹6,500 – ₹14,500 job and it will not cure itself.
What is the rattle from my diesel Vento at idle?
Classic dual-mass flywheel wear. The springs inside the flywheel damp the diesel's firing pulses, and as they tire the unit rattles at idle in neutral, then falls silent when you press the clutch and unload it. Mild rattle is tolerable for a while; heavy rattle with vibration through the floor means it should come out at the next clutch job.
Is the TDI clutch more expensive than the petrol's?
Yes, and mostly because of the flywheel. The diesel's higher torque means a heavier-duty clutch kit, and if the dual-mass flywheel is out of spec the parts bill roughly doubles. The petrol Vento is a straightforward ₹28,000-band job; a diesel with a flywheel can reach ₹46,000 or more, which is exactly why we measure before ordering.
The clutch fork on my diesel was mentioned by another workshop. Is that real?
It is. The fork pivot is a recognised wear point on these diesels, and a worn pivot gives you a strange, inconsistent pedal that a new clutch alone will not cure. We inspect it every time the bell-housing is open and replace it with the genuine part when needed — it is a small component that ruins an otherwise perfect clutch job if it is ignored.
