Quick answer

Car electrical repair at Metre Per Second in Hyderabad is ₹1,500–₹3,500 for a full diagnostic session with an oscilloscope and OEM scan tool, ₹4,000–₹18,000 for wiring, sensor and parasitic-drain work, and ₹12,000–₹85,000 for module repair, replacement or programming. We trace faults on the CAN bus with a scope rather than swapping parts, so you pay for the fault that exists and not for a guess. Come in for a battery that flattens in two days, warning lights across unrelated systems, a car that will not crank, or a module that stopped talking after a jump start.

Hyderabad's Electrical Repair Authority

Metre Per Second — Premium Car Service and Repair is Hyderabad's dedicated auto-electrical workshop. Modern cars are rolling networks — a single AGM battery, a body control module and a dozen CAN/LIN nodes all talking at once — so a flat battery is rarely 'just the battery'. We diagnose on the manufacturer's own platforms (VW/Audi ODIS & VCDS, BMW ISTA, Mercedes XENTRY, Hyundai/Kia GDS) and with a lab scope, so you only pay for the fault your car truly has.

Electrical faults are where most garages guess and replace. A parasitic drain that kills a battery overnight, a module that won't enter sleep, a corroded SAM or FRM, an alternator with a failing decoupler pulley, or a battery swapped without BMS registration — each leaves a very different fingerprint. Our auto electricians read those fingerprints with a micro-amp current clamp, a thermal camera and an oscilloscope, then fix the root cause rather than swapping parts in the dark.

Over 15 years and 25,075+ vehicles across Hyderabad, we have built our name on honest electrical diagnosis, genuine components and a 1-year warranty on repairs. We bench-rebuild Bosch, Valeo, Hella, Mitsubishi and Denso alternators and starters, recover water-damaged BCM/ECU units, and code batteries correctly. Free pickup and drop across KPHB, Kukatpally, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Hi-Tech City, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills keeps your car moving without you losing a day.

What We Repair

Parasitic Drain Diagnosis

Battery dead after sitting overnight? We measure the sleeping current with a micro-amp clamp, pull fuses systematically and isolate the offending module — infotainment not entering sleep, an aftermarket dashcam wired to a constant feed, or a stuck relay.

Battery & BMS / IBS Coding

AGM and EFB stop-start batteries must be registered to the energy-management system after replacement — via ODIS/VCDS, ISTA, XENTRY or GDS. Skip it and a new battery dies in 6–12 months. We supply, fit and code the correct chemistry and capacity.

Alternator & Charging System

Bosch, Valeo, Hella, Mitsubishi and Denso alternator bench rebuilds — brushes, voltage regulators, bearings, slip rings and the overrunning decoupler (OAP) pulley — to cure flickering lights, undercharging and dashboard battery warnings.

Starter Motor & Crank-No-Start

Slow cranking, click-no-crank and intermittent starts traced to a worn solenoid, brushes, the starter relay or voltage drop across corroded earth straps — solenoid replacement and full starter overhaul.

CAN / LIN Bus & Module Coding

Random warning lights, lost comms (U-codes) and gateway faults diagnosed on an oscilloscope, then BCM/comfort/gateway modules replaced and coded so every node on the bus communicates correctly.

Wiring, Earths & Water-Ingress Repair

Chafed door and tailgate looms, monsoon water in the BCM/SAM/footwell module, corroded pins and bad earths — repaired to OE standard with proper crimps, heat-shrink and re-sealing, not insulation tape.

Our Repair Process

  1. Free Pickup & Symptom Capture: We collect your car from anywhere in Hyderabad and log exactly when the fault appears — overnight drain, cold start, after rain, or only over bumps — which guides the whole diagnosis.
  2. Full Diagnostic Scan (All Modules): We read fault codes and live data from every control unit on the OEM platform (ODIS / ISTA / XENTRY / GDS), not just the engine, so a fault hiding in the comfort or gateway module isn't missed.
  3. Battery & Charging Health Test: We load-test the battery, confirm its coded chemistry/capacity, and check alternator output and ripple to rule out a charging fault before chasing anything deeper.
  4. Parasitic Drain & Voltage-Drop Test: Using a micro-amp clamp we measure sleeping current against spec, and use voltage-drop testing across earths and connectors to find resistance that codes never show.
  5. Oscilloscope & Pin-Point Tracing: Suspect circuits, CAN/LIN signals and sensors are checked on a lab scope against wiring diagrams to find the exact broken wire, corroded pin or failing module.
  6. Fixed Quote & Your Approval: You get a clear, itemised, fixed quote. No work proceeds until you approve it — no open-ended 'electrical labour' on the bill.
  7. Repair / Rebuild & Coding: We repair the loom, bench-rebuild the alternator/starter, recover or replace the module, then code/adapt and register the battery so the system is whole again.
  8. QC Test & Handover With Warranty: We re-test sleeping current, clear codes, road-test and verify the fault is gone, then deliver the car back with a 1-year warranty on the repair.

Why Metre Per Second

Lab-Scope Diagnosis

We own and use an automotive oscilloscope and micro-amp clamps — the only reliable way to catch intermittent drains and bus faults that a code reader simply cannot see.

OEM Platforms for Coding

ODIS/VCDS, ISTA, XENTRY and GDS — the dealer's own software — so battery registration, BCM coding and adaptation are dealer-accurate, not generic guesses.

In-House Bench Rebuilds

Alternators and starters are rebuilt under our roof with genuine Bosch/Valeo/Hella/Denso parts, so quality and turnaround stay in our control.

Loom & Module Recovery

We repair wiring and recover water-damaged BCM/SAM/FRM modules instead of forcing an expensive new-unit-plus-coding bill where it isn't needed.

Fixed Quotes, No Surprises

Electrical jobs are notorious for open-ended bills. You approve an itemised price after diagnosis — the invoice matches the quote.

Free Pickup, Drop & 1-Year Warranty

Doorstep collection across KPHB, Kukatpally, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Hi-Tech City, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills, with every repair backed for a full year.

Why Electrical Repair Is Needed — Common Causes

Battery Swapped Without Coding

Fitting an AGM/EFB battery without registering it to the BMS/IBS leaves the alternator over- or under-charging it — the single most common reason a 'new' battery dies within a year.

Aftermarket Accessories Wired Wrong

Dashcams, audio amplifiers and alarms tapped into a constant 12V feed keep modules awake and quietly drain the battery while the car is parked.

Monsoon Water Ingress

Hyderabad's rains push water into footwell/SAM/BCM modules and connector blocks, corroding pins and triggering random comfort and lighting faults.

Corroded Earths & Voltage Drop

Body and engine earth straps corrode in our humidity, adding resistance that starves starters and confuses sensors — without ever setting an obvious code.

Heat-Aged Alternator & Belt Decoupler

Stop-go traffic and engine-bay heat wear alternator brushes, regulators and the overrunning decoupler pulley, causing undercharging, flicker and belt rattle.

Rodent & Chafing Loom Damage

Chewed insulation and looms rubbing against the body at door hinges, tailgates and the engine bay create shorts and intermittent open circuits.

How To Avoid Electrical Repair — Prevention

Always Code a New Battery

On any stop-start car, insist the replacement battery is registered to the BMS/IBS with the correct chemistry and capacity — it's the cheapest way to protect battery life.

Wire Accessories to a Switched Feed

Have dashcams, audio and alarms wired to an ignition-switched (or proper sleep-aware) circuit so nothing keeps the car awake when parked.

Keep Drains & Seals Clear

Clear cowl and sunroof drains and check door/boot seals before the monsoon so water never reaches the electronics.

Clean & Protect Earth Points

Have battery terminals and body/engine earths cleaned and dielectric-greased during service to stop voltage-drop faults before they start.

Test Charging at Every Service

A two-minute alternator output and battery health check at each service catches undercharging and a weak battery before you're stranded.

Don't Ignore Small Warning Lights

A flickering light, a battery warning or an intermittent feature is the early sign of a drain or bus fault — scanning it early prevents a no-start.

Recent Repairs at Our Workshop

Overnight Battery Drain Traced to a Sleepless Module

Skoda Octavia · EA888 TSI

Problem: A brand-new AGM battery was flat every two or three days. Two garages had already replaced the battery and the alternator with no improvement.

Work done: We measured a sleeping current well above the 30–50 mA spec, mapped it with a micro-amp clamp and fuse pulls, and found the infotainment/comfort module not entering sleep. We isolated the fault, re-coded the AGM battery on ODIS and confirmed correct shutdown.

Outcome: Sleeping current dropped to spec, the battery now holds for weeks of standing, and the customer avoided yet another wasted battery. (₹3,500)

Water-Damaged SAM Module Recovered After Monsoon

Mercedes-Benz C-Class · OM651

Problem: Post-monsoon, the car showed multiple random warnings, dead interior lights and intermittent central locking. A dealer quoted a new Signal Acquisition Module plus coding.

Work done: XENTRY confirmed communication faults from the rear SAM. We removed it, dried and recovered the water-corroded board, repaired the affected pins, re-sealed the connector and the housing entry point.

Outcome: All faults cleared and features restored at a fraction of the new-module-plus-coding quote, with the water path sealed against future ingress. (₹9,800)

Charging Warning Fixed With Decoupler-Pulley Rebuild

BMW 3 Series · B47 diesel

Problem: Battery warning light, flickering headlights and a faint rattle from the front of the engine on a high-mileage car.

Work done: Output testing showed unstable charging and ripple. We bench-rebuilt the Valeo alternator — new brushes, regulator, bearings and overrunning decoupler (OAP) pulley — and registered the battery on ISTA.

Outcome: Stable charging restored, lights steady, rattle gone, and the customer saved the cost of a full replacement alternator. (₹8,500)

Customer Reviews

★★★★★ Karthik Reddy, KPHB — Skoda Octavia

My new battery kept dying. Turned out the previous garage never coded the AGM. MPS registered it on ODIS and fixed a comfort-module drain. Six months later, zero issues. Finally someone who actually understood the problem.

★★★★★ Sandhya Rao, Gachibowli — Hyundai Creta

Random battery drain that two workshops couldn't find. They used a current clamp, traced it to the Bluelink module not sleeping, and isolated it. Transparent and quoted upfront. Highly recommend.

★★★★★ Imran Pasha, Banjara Hills — Mercedes-Benz C-Class

After the rains my car threw a dozen warning lights. The SAM module had water in it. They recovered it on the bench instead of selling me a new one — saved me a fortune. Scanned everything on XENTRY.

★★★★★ Vamshi Krishna, Kukatpally — BMW 3 Series

Charging warning and flickering lights. They rebuilt the alternator with a new decoupler pulley and registered the battery on ISTA. Smooth, dealer-level work at a fair price and free pickup.

★★★★★ Priyanka Nair, Madhapur — Audi A4

Intermittent electrical gremlins for months. They found a chafed door loom on the oscilloscope, repaired it properly with heat-shrink, and recoded the BCM. The car has been perfect since.

★★★★★ Ramesh Goud, Jubilee Hills — Mahindra XUV500

Slow cranking and a click no-start. Earth straps were corroded and the starter solenoid was worn. They overhauled the starter and cleaned the earths. Cranks instantly now. Very honest team.

Technical terms explained

The electrical repair terms that appear on our estimates, job cards and diagnostic reports — in plain English, written by the technicians who use them.

DME / DDE
BMW's names for the engine control unit — Digital Motor Electronics on petrol engines and Digital Diesel Electronics on diesels. Both are VIN-coded modules that manage fuelling, ignition or injection timing, boost and emissions hardware. They rarely fail outright; water ingress at the E-box, a shorted sensor circuit taking out a driver stage, or a corrupted flash after a flat battery are the realistic causes.
CAN bus
The two-wire twisted-pair network (CAN-High and CAN-Low) over which every control module on a modern car exchanges messages, replacing hundreds of discrete wires. One damaged module or a chafed wire can flood the bus and knock out unrelated systems, which is why a bad door module can put warning lights across the whole dashboard. Proper diagnosis uses an oscilloscope on the bus waveform, not just a code reader.
Parasitic drain
Current still being drawn after the car has fully gone to sleep, which should typically settle below 30–50 mA. A module that never sleeps — aftermarket alarms, amplifiers, a faulty comfort module — will flatten a healthy battery in two or three days. Finding it means clamping an ammeter on the negative lead, waiting out the sleep timer, then pulling fuses one by one to isolate the circuit.
ABS module
The combined hydraulic pump and electronic controller that modulates individual brake circuits for ABS, traction control and stability control. Failures split into wheel-speed-sensor faults, which are cheap, and internal pump-motor or solder failures inside the module, which are not. Because ESP and hill-hold depend on it, an ABS fault usually disables several driver-assistance features at once.
Limp mode
A deliberate protection strategy where the ECU or TCU caps boost, revs or gear selection — often locking the gearbox in third — to get you home without destroying hardware. It is triggered by an implausible sensor reading or a torque-monitoring deviation, and it always sets a fault code that names the offending circuit. Clearing the code without fixing the cause simply returns the car to limp mode on the next drive cycle.
ADAS calibration
The alignment procedure for the forward camera, radar and surround-view sensors that feed lane assist, adaptive cruise and autonomous emergency braking. It is mandatory after a windscreen replacement, suspension geometry change or front-end repair, because a camera aimed a fraction of a degree wrong misjudges distance badly at speed. Calibration is done on a level floor against manufacturer-specified targets with the OEM software, not by driving the car around.

Frequently Asked Questions

My battery keeps dying overnight — is it just the battery?

Usually not. An overnight drain is almost always a parasitic draw from a module that won't sleep, an aftermarket accessory on a constant feed, or a battery that was never coded to the car. We measure the sleeping current with a micro-amp clamp and isolate the exact cause instead of just selling another battery.

Why does a new battery need 'coding' or 'registration'?

Cars with stop-start use AGM or EFB batteries managed by a BMS/IBS. After a replacement, the system must be told the new battery's type and capacity so the alternator charges it correctly. Skip this step and the new battery is over- or under-charged and often dies within 6–12 months. We code it on ODIS, ISTA, XENTRY or GDS.

Can you find intermittent electrical faults that other garages couldn't?

Yes — that's our specialty. Intermittent shorts, drains and CAN/LIN bus faults rarely set a clear code, so we use an oscilloscope, micro-amp clamp, thermal camera and voltage-drop testing against wiring diagrams to pin-point the broken wire, corroded pin or failing module.

Do you repair wiring looms and modules, or only replace them?

We repair wherever it's safe and lasting — chafed looms get proper crimps and heat-shrink, and water-damaged BCM/SAM/footwell modules are often recovered on the bench. We only recommend a new module when repair isn't viable, and we prove it during diagnosis.

Can you rebuild my alternator or starter instead of replacing it?

Yes. We bench-rebuild Bosch, Valeo, Hella, Mitsubishi and Denso units — brushes, regulators, bearings, slip rings, the overrunning decoupler pulley, and starter solenoids — usually for much less than a new unit, with a warranty.

How much does car electrical repair cost in Hyderabad?

A full all-module diagnostic scan is ₹999, battery coding ₹1,499, parasitic-drain diagnosis ₹1,999, alternator rebuilds ₹4,500–₹12,000 and starter overhauls ₹3,500–₹9,000. Loom and module repairs are quoted after inspection. You always get a fixed price before any work starts.

Do you offer pickup and drop?

Yes, free pickup and drop across KPHB, Kukatpally, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Hi-Tech City, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills.

Is there a warranty on electrical repairs?

Yes — every electrical repair and rebuild is backed by a 1-year unconditional warranty.
