About this DPF on the Skoda Yeti TDI

A diesel particulate filter (DPF) traps soot from the exhaust and burns it off in regeneration cycles at 600°C+. Hyderabad's stop-start traffic, short trips, and residual fuel quality block this cycle — soot accumulates, ash builds up, and you get the dreaded ▲ DPF light, P2002 / P2463 / P244A codes, limp mode, and rising fuel consumption. Many workshops just delete or hollow the DPF (illegal, voids warranty, ruins resale, fails RTO emissions). We don't. At MPS we run a three-stage diagnosis-and-fix workflow: SCAN + LIVE-DATA (delta-P, soot mass, ash mass, regen counters via ISTA / XENTRY / ODIS / IDS / Easydiag); STATIC FORCED REGEN if soot is the only issue (₹2,500-6,500 — runs the engine at 2,000 RPM under controlled conditions to burn off accumulated soot); OFF-CAR ULTRASONIC + THERMAL CLEAN if ash is the problem (₹14,000-32,000 — DPF removed, weighed, ultrasonic flushed in heated detergent bath, then 600°C oven cure to vaporise residue, weight verified and certificate issued). We service Bosch DENOXTRONIC and DPF systems on BMW B47/B57, Mercedes OM651/OM654/OM656, VW/Audi EA288/EA189, Skoda 2.0 TDI, Volvo D4, Ford TDCi, Mahindra mHawk/mEagle, Tata Multijet II Kryotec, Hyundai/Kia CRDi U/R-series, Maruti DDiS Multijet. Every job ends with sensor calibration, regen counter reset, and a printed before/after pressure-drop report.

Frequently asked questions

How much does DPF cleaning cost in Hyderabad?

Static forced regen (when soot is the only issue) is ₹2,500-6,500. Off-car ultrasonic + thermal cleaning is ₹14,000-32,000 depending on filter size and brand. A combined DPF+EGR job is ₹22,000-48,000. Differential-pressure sensor swaps are ₹3,500-9,500. OE replacement DPFs (only when the ceramic is cracked or melted) range ₹32,000-2,80,000. We give a fixed-price quote after scan + delta-P testing.

Should I just delete the DPF?

No. DPF deletion is illegal under Bharat Stage VI norms, fails RTO emissions checks, voids warranty, and tanks resale value by ₹1-3 lakh on a luxury diesel. The reason workshops push it is they don't have ultrasonic cleaning equipment. We do — and a properly cleaned, regen'd DPF performs identically to a new one.

What's the difference between forced regen and off-car cleaning?

Forced regen burns off SOOT — the carbon particles that accumulate between regen cycles. It's an on-car procedure done with the OEM scan tool, takes 25-40 minutes, costs ₹2,500-6,500. Off-car cleaning removes ASH — the inorganic residue from engine oil and metallic additives that regen CANNOT burn. Ash needs the DPF to be removed, ultrasonic-flushed, and oven-baked at 600°C. We weigh the filter before and after to prove ash mass dropped to OEM spec.

Why does my DPF keep clogging in Hyderabad?

Three reasons specific to Hyderabad: (1) average diesel commute is 5-12 km at urban speeds — the DPF never reaches the 600°C needed for self-regen; (2) generic engine oil (not low-SAPS ACEA C3/C4) burns into hard ash that NEVER regens out; (3) sooted EGR and intake manifold feed un-burned hydrocarbons into the DPF, accelerating clogging. Fix all three together and a cleaned DPF lasts 60,000+ km.

What is the differential-pressure sensor and why does it fail?

The delta-P sensor measures pressure drop across the DPF — that's how the ECU knows when soot is built up enough to trigger regen. The two silicone lines attached to it cake with soot, crack, or come loose, and the sensor itself drifts with age. A bad sensor either skips regen (DPF clogs) or commands continuous regen (oil dilution + turbo damage). We test it with live data before replacing it.

My oil level is rising — is it the DPF?

Almost certainly yes. When DPF regen fails repeatedly, the ECU's post-injection of diesel (which fires extra fuel into the cylinders to raise exhaust temperature) ends up washing past the rings into the engine oil. Oil dilution is dangerous — drop in viscosity, bearing wear, hydraulic-lock risk if it goes above the upper mark. Fix the DPF, then change the oil immediately.

Do you also clean the EGR when doing a DPF?

We strongly recommend it. A sooted EGR and intake manifold feeds un-burned hydrocarbons straight into the freshly-cleaned DPF — you'll be back in 4-6 months. Combined DPF + EGR + intake decarbonisation costs ₹22,000-48,000 versus ₹14,000-32,000 for DPF alone, and the cleaned filter then lasts 60,000+ km.

Will the regen warning light reset after cleaning?

Yes. After off-car cleaning we reset the soot mass, ash mass, regen counters, distance-since-last-regen, and DPF adaptation values via OEM scan tool (ISTA/XENTRY/ODIS/IDS/GDS). We also do a 25-30 km road test to verify a successful adaptive regen completes. Printed before/after report at handover.
