Quick answer
We handle turbocharger repair on 16 Skoda models spanning 2005–2024 at our KPHB workshop — Karoq, Kodiaq, Kushaq 1.5 DSG, Octavia, Rapid and Fabia and 10 others. Fitted variants covered: BorgWarner B01, EA888 2.0 TSI, BorgWarner K03 and IHI VGT — every job is scoped on VCDS plus the Skoda ODIS data set and rebuilt with OE-grade components. The complaints we log most on Skoda are EA888 turbocharger wastegate rattle, P0299 underboost condition and B01 turbo oil feed line blockage. Work starts from ₹3,500 – ₹8,500, with a written fixed-price estimate after a free inspection, 12-month warranty, free pickup and drop across Hyderabad, and invoices that usually land 30–40% under authorised Skoda dealer quotes.
About Skoda turbocharger repair at Metre Per Second
A modern turbocharger spins at 200,000-280,000 RPM, runs on a film of oil 4 microns thick, and operates with exhaust gases at 850-950°C. When it fails, the symptoms are loud and expensive: blue smoke, loss of boost, whistling, rattle on shut-down, oil in the intercooler. Most workshops sell you a full replacement turbo at ₹70,000-2.5 lakh. We rebuild yours for 30-50% of that. At MPS we offer three levels of turbo service: ACTUATOR / VGT REPAIR (₹3,500-15,000 — fixes most boost-control faults without removing the turbo); CARTRIDGE OVERHAUL / CHRA REBUILD (₹14,000-45,000 — new bearings, seals, balanced wheel-and-shaft assembly on a Schenck-type balancing rig, refit and recoded); and FULL TURBO REPLACEMENT (only when the housing or wastegate is cracked — OE or remanufactured, with adaptation). We service Garrett (BMW B47/B57, Mercedes OM651/OM654, Volvo, Ford), BorgWarner (VW/Audi EA288, EA888, Hyundai/Kia, Mahindra mHawk), Mitsubishi TD/TF (Toyota GD-series, Mahindra), IHI RHF (Honda i-DTEC, Nissan, Suzuki), and KKK/3K (Tata Multijet II, Fiat). Every overhaul ends with a boost-pressure test on the road and a printed VGT learning report.

Why Skoda owners across Hyderabad bring their car to us
- Schenck-type balancing rig — Most workshops swap new cartridges and hope. We balance your rebuilt assembly to OEM spec — the only way a rebuilt turbo lasts another 100,000 km.
- All major turbo brands — Garrett (GTB, GTD, MGT, GBC), BorgWarner (BV, KP, K03, K04, B01, B02), Mitsubishi (TD03, TD04, TF035), IHI (RHF, RHV), KKK/3K (BV43, K03). We rebuild what others quote replacement for.
- VGT actuator recoding — Hella, Continental, BorgWarner electronic actuators all need end-stop calibration after refit — done with ISTA, XENTRY, ODIS or J2534. New actuator without coding = limp mode in 200 km.
- Save 50-70% vs new turbo — A new BMW B47 turbo is ₹1.85 lakh from BMW. We rebuild yours, balanced and warrantied, for ₹35,000-55,000. Same OEM-spec performance.
Skoda turbocharger repair — frequently asked questions
Is my Skoda covered for turbocharger repair at your Hyderabad workshop?
We list 16 Skoda models for turbocharger repair, covering model years 2005–2024. In full: Karoq (2018-2024), Kodiaq (2017-2024), Kushaq 1.5 DSG (2021-2024), Octavia (2013-2024), Rapid (2011-2022), Fabia (2021-2024), Kamiq (2020-2024), Kylaq (2023-2024), Laura (2005-2015), Octavia Diesel 2022 (2022-2024), Octavia PHEV (2022-2024), Superb 2024 (2024-2024), Yeti (2015-2020) and Superb (2009-2024) and 2 more rows in the table. That spans SUV, Sedan and Hatchback body styles. Drill into any model for the turbocharger variant it runs, its Hyderabad fault history and the turbocharger repair procedure we follow.
Which turbocharger variants are fitted to Skoda cars you service?
The Skoda hardware through our bay covers BorgWarner B01, EA888 2.0 TSI, BorgWarner K03, IHI VGT, 2.0 TSI EA888, 2.0 TDI EA288, EA211 1.5 TSI and K04, plus 13 other factory fitments. Codes we work to: EA888 2.0 TSI, 2.0 TSI EA888 / 2.0 TDI EA288, EA211 1.5 TSI, 1.8 TSI / 2.0 TSI EA888 / 2.0 TDI EA288, 1.0 TSI / 1.5 TDI and EA211 1.0 TSI. By model that breaks down as Karoq — BorgWarner, Kodiaq — BorgWarner / IHI, Kushaq 1.5 DSG — BorgWarner, Octavia — BorgWarner / IHI, Rapid — BorgWarner / KKK and Fabia — BorgWarner. Pinning the variant down first is not pedantry — a Karoq and a Kushaq take different parts, different clearances and a different adaptation afterwards.
What Skoda turbocharger problems do you see most in Hyderabad?
Model by model, the faults we log are Karoq — EA888 turbocharger wastegate rattle; P0299 underboost condition; B01 turbo oil feed line blockage, Kodiaq — TSI wastegate rattle; TDI VGT seizure; Boost-pipe leak, Kushaq 1.5 DSG — EA211 turbocharger oil starvation leading to failure; BorgWarner wastegate rattle under load; P0299 underboost condition due to boost leak, Octavia — EA888 wastegate rattle (severe); vRS K04 turbo failure on tuned cars; TDI VGT seizure, Rapid — TDI VGT vanes stuck (limp mode); Wastegate rattle on TSI; Boost-pipe leak, Fabia — EA211 turbocharger oil starvation leading to failure; P0299 underboost condition due to wastegate malfunction; BorgWarner B01 wastegate rattle on cold start, Kamiq — EA211 turbocharger oil starvation leading to failure; P0299 underboost condition due to wastegate actuator malfunction; BorgWarner VGT sticking under high load, Kylaq — EA888 wastegate rattle on cold start; P0299 underboost; BorgWarner B01 oil seal failure, Laura — 1.8 TSI oil coking in turbocharger; 2.0 TDI turbo overboost P0234; 1.8 TSI wastegate rattle under load and Octavia Diesel 2022 — EA288 turbocharger failure leading to P0299 underboost; BorgWarner VGT actuator malfunction causing erratic boost; Oil contamination in turbo leading to performance drop, plus 6 more across the rest of the Skoda range. Taken together the recurring themes on Skoda are EA888 turbocharger wastegate rattle, P0299 underboost condition, B01 turbo oil feed line blockage, Turbocharger actuator failure, Excessive turbo lag during acceleration and TSI wastegate rattle. Hyderabad's crawl-speed traffic, 45°C summers and inconsistent fuel bring them forward by 20–30% against the Skoda maintenance schedule, so we chase the root cause before quoting instead of replacing parts on symptoms.
Do you have Skoda dealer-level diagnostic equipment?
Yes — every Skoda turbocharger repair starts with a full-system scan on VCDS plus the Skoda ODIS data set, so we read manufacturer live values, freeze-frame data and adaptation counters rather than generic OBD-II codes. That matters on Skoda, because EA888 2.0 TSI, 2.0 TSI EA888 / 2.0 TDI EA288, EA211 1.5 TSI, 1.8 TSI / 2.0 TSI EA888 / 2.0 TDI EA288 and 1.0 TSI / 1.5 TDI each report different parameter blocks and need their own test plan. After the repair we run whatever the turbocharger on your Karoq or Kodiaq needs — coding, basic settings, calibration or a guided adaptation — then re-scan and road-test to confirm the fault memory stays clear.
What is the price of Skoda turbocharger repair at MPS?
Indicative rates: VGT vane clean ₹3,500 – ₹8,500; Actuator repair ₹6,500 – ₹15,000; CHRA overhaul ₹14,000 – ₹45,000; Full overhaul ₹22,000 – ₹65,000. Where your Skoda lands inside that band depends on the variant — a Karoq does not price like a Kushaq, and models on BorgWarner B01 carry different part costs to those on EA888 2.0 TSI. You get a written fixed-price estimate after a free inspection and before any teardown, normally 30–40% below an authorised Skoda quote.
How long does Skoda turbocharger repair take?
Most Skoda jobs finish in 1–3 working days, and diagnosis plus the written estimate are usually same-day. Access drives the rest: a Karoq or Kodiaq is straightforward, whereas a Kushaq on EA211 1.0 TSI / 1.5 TSI EVO ACT needs extra bench time and a post-fit adaptation. Anything needing a part flown in for a Skoda of that generation adds a day or two; we confirm the timeline with the quote and send daily photo updates from the bay.
How is my Skoda repair backed after I collect the car?
You get our 12-Month Warranty covering both parts and workmanship, redeemable at KPHB with a no-charge re-inspection while it is live. Components for the Karoq, Kodiaq, Kushaq 1.5 DSG, Octavia and Rapid — and the rest of the Skoda table — are OE or OEM-equivalent only, and each part number plus its supplier brand goes on the printed invoice so nothing is hidden behind a line item.
Can you still get parts for an older Skoda such as the Laura?
Yes. Coverage runs across 2005–2024, and the oldest entry in our Skoda table is the Laura (2005-2015). For Skoda cars outside dealer parts support we source OE-equivalent components directly from the original suppliers, and where the turbocharger is rebuildable we overhaul the existing unit rather than quoting a full assembly — usually the difference between a viable repair and writing the car off.
Which parts of Hyderabad do you pick Skoda cars up from?
Collection and return are free of charge, and we run it daily to Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Hi-Tech City, Kondapur, Begumpet, Secunderabad, KPHB and Kukatpally plus a dozen more areas. A Skoda that cannot be driven safely goes on a flatbed at no extra cost. Message 8555824915 on WhatsApp with your model and year — Karoq, Kodiaq or any other car in the list — and you will have a slot confirmed that day.
Should I take my Skoda to the dealer or to MPS?
Two differences matter. First, we diagnose on VCDS plus the Skoda ODIS data set, the same platform the dealer uses, so nothing is guessed. Second, we repair at component level — a dealer's fix for the turbocharger on a Karoq is usually a complete assembly swap, where ours is a targeted rebuild. The same technician quotes, repairs and signs off the car, and the result is typically 30–40% below a Skoda dealer invoice on OE-grade parts across all 16 models we list.
General turbocharger repair questions
How much does turbocharger repair cost in Hyderabad?
VGT vane cleaning is ₹3,500-8,500. Actuator repair / replacement is ₹6,500-15,000. A full CHRA cartridge overhaul (new bearings, seals, balanced wheel-and-shaft, warranty) is ₹14,000-45,000 depending on turbo size and brand. A complete overhaul including housing and wastegate inspection is ₹22,000-65,000. OE replacement turbos are ₹45,000-2,80,000 — needed only when housing or wastegate is cracked. We give a fixed-price quote after diagnostic.
Can a damaged turbo be rebuilt, or do I have to replace it?
85-90% of turbo problems can be fixed with a CHRA (cartridge) rebuild — replacement is rarely the right first answer. Worn bearings, oil seals, sticking VGT vanes and faulty actuators are all repairable. Replacement is needed only when the turbo housing is cracked, the wastegate flapper is broken off, or the compressor wheel has shattered. We strip your turbo first, photograph the damage, and quote rebuild OR replacement honestly.
What is VGT and why does it fail?
VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger, also called VNT) uses moveable vanes inside the turbine housing to optimise boost across the rev range. The vanes get coated in carbon (especially on cars with EGR + DPF issues), seize up, and the engine throws P0299 / P2563 codes — usually triggering limp mode. Often the vanes can be ultrasonic-cleaned in-situ; in worse cases the cartridge needs full overhaul.
Do you balance the rebuilt turbo cartridge?
Yes — every CHRA overhaul ends with the wheel-and-shaft assembly balanced on a Schenck-type rig to better than 0.05 g.mm imbalance, the same spec as the OEM. This is the single most important step in a turbo rebuild — workshops that skip balancing produce turbos that feel fine for 5,000 km then destroy themselves at 15,000 km. We give you the printed balance report.
Why is my car blowing blue smoke after the turbo died?
A failed turbo dumps engine oil into the intake on the compressor side, or out of the exhaust on the turbine side. Blue smoke under acceleration = oil burning in the cylinders. The fix is a CHRA rebuild (new oil seals + bearings) PLUS a thorough clean of the intercooler, intake pipes and EGR — leftover oil burns off for weeks if you skip this step.
Will rebuilding the turbo also fix my limp mode?
Usually yes, if the limp mode is caused by underboost / overboost (P0299, P0234, P2563). After rebuild, we do an actuator end-stop calibration via OEM tool (ISTA/XENTRY/ODIS), reset all turbo adaptations, and verify boost on a 30-km road test. If the limp mode is from a different fault (DPF, EGR, sensor), we tell you upfront before any turbo work.
