Why does my differential whine?
Differential whine is almost always caused by worn crown wheel & pinion gears, incorrect backlash (gears too far apart or too close), or a worn pinion bearing. The fix is a full rebuild with a new matched crown wheel & pinion set, new bearings and a proper contact-pattern setup on a setup bench — not a "just-replace-the-bearings" job.
My LSD chatters on slow turns — is it serious?
LSD chatter usually means the friction discs in the clutch pack are glazed or the LSD oil has lost its friction modifier. First step is a fluid change with the correct OEM LSD oil and friction modifier. If chatter persists, the clutch pack needs to be rebuilt with new friction discs and steel plates.
Can you set up an aftermarket LSD (Quaife / Wavetrac / Eaton)?
Yes. We install and set up Quaife ATB, Wavetrac, Eaton TrueTrac and OS Giken LSDs in housings where they are available. We charge for the install + setup; you supply the LSD or we can source it.
Do you code Audi sport differential / Mercedes AMG e-LSD after repair?
Yes. After any electronic LSD or active rear differential repair we recode and calibrate the control unit using ODIS (Audi sport diff) or Star Diagnosis (Mercedes-AMG e-LSD) so the unit operates as intended.
