Common symptoms that signal a service is due
- ▲ 'Service overdue' / 'Inspection due' on the dash — BMW CBS / Mercedes ASSYST / Audi SI / VW SI counter has hit zero. Service done + OEM-tool reset clears it. Without proper reset, message comes back in days.
- Engine oil-change reminder light — Oil-quality sensor + km counter has tripped. Some platforms (BMW B47/B58, Mercedes OM651/OM654) need oil-quality re-baselined via OEM tool after fill — without this, light returns.
- Loss of fuel economy 10-15% recently — Choked air filter + clogged fuel filter + worn spark plugs + dirty injectors. Periodic service usually restores 80-90% of lost economy.
- Engine running rough at idle / cold start — Old spark plugs (petrol) or clogged fuel filter (diesel). Service intervals: spark plugs 40-60k km, fuel filter 30-40k km. Periodic service catches this.
- AC blowing weak / smelly — Cabin filter loaded with Hyderabad dust + AC evaporator microbial growth. Cabin filter swap + evaporator clean + gas top-up included in our comprehensive service.
- Brake pedal soft / brake warning light — Brake fluid water-content over 3% (boiling point drops + ABS ring corrosion) OR pad-wear sensor triggered. Brake fluid flush + pad inspection part of every comprehensive service.
Our Periodic / Routine Car Service process
Step 1: Pre-service OEM diagnostic scan
ISTA / XENTRY / ODIS / IDS / GDS pulls full fault history, freeze-frame, brake-pad sensor readings, oil-quality sensor data, battery-coding, service-history log. Forms the basis for the service report.
Step 2: Oil + filter replacement (OEM-spec)
Engine oil drained warm, oil filter replaced with OE-supply Mann/Mahle/Bosch/Hengst, sump plug crush-washer renewed, OEM-spec oil refilled to exact quantity. Castrol Edge / Shell Helix Ultra / Mobil 1 / Liqui-Moly Top Tec — exact viscosity + spec for your engine.
Step 3: Air / cabin / fuel filter + plug check
Air filter replaced every service. Cabin filter replaced every 12-15k km. Fuel filter replaced every 30-40k km on diesel. Spark plugs inspected/replaced at OEM interval (40-60k km). Battery health-tested.
Step 4: Brake + AC + fluid inspection
Brake-pad thickness measured + reported. Disc thickness measured against minimum spec. Brake fluid water-content tested (>3% = flush). AC gas pressure tested + topped up if needed. Coolant strength + level checked. Power-steering / gearbox fluid level checked.
Step 5: Service-light reset + handover report
BMW CBS / Mercedes ASSYST / Audi SI / VW SI counter properly reset via OEM tool. Service-history book stamped (and digital service-history updated where applicable). Printed inspection report with photos handed over with car keys.
Why Hyderabad car owners choose Metre Per Second
- OEM-spec oil + filters, every time — Castrol Edge, Shell Helix Ultra, Mobil 1, Liqui-Moly Top Tec — the exact viscosity + ACEA / API spec your engine demands. OE-supply Mann, Mahle, Bosch, Hengst filters. Batch numbers on every invoice — same parts the dealer uses, ₹2k-15k less.
- OEM-tool diagnostic scan + reset — ISTA, XENTRY, ODIS, IDS, GDS — proper service-light reset, oil-quality re-baseline, battery coding, brake-fluid timer reset. No 'jumper trick' resets that come back in 3 months. Same dealer-grade tools, no dealer overhead.
- Detailed inspection report — Brake-pad thickness in mm, disc thickness in mm, tyre tread depth, battery CCA, brake fluid water-content %, AC gas pressure — all measured and reported, with photos of any wear items. Honest 'replace now' or 'monitor next service' guidance for each.
- Service-history book stamped — Printed inspection report + dealer-style service book stamp + digital service-history (where applicable on BMW, Mercedes, Audi). Protects your resale value — typical luxury car loses ₹50k-2 lakh resale without complete service history.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a periodic service cost in Hyderabad?
Basic service (OEM oil + oil filter + air filter + diagnostic scan + service-light reset) is ₹3,500-14,000 depending on car. Standard service (basic + cabin filter + brake check + AC check + tyre rotation) is ₹6,500-22,000. Comprehensive annual service (standard + fuel filter / spark plugs + brake fluid flush + coolant top-up) is ₹14,000-38,000. Major 40-60k km service is ₹22,000-65,000. Fixed-price quote based on your car's exact service interval and the OEM-spec consumables it needs.
Do I really need OEM-spec oil, or is Castrol GTX fine?
Modern engines need exact ACEA / API spec, not generic. VW Group requires VW 504/507 for diesel-with-DPF and VW 502/503 for petrol. BMW requires LL-04 for diesel + N20/B48. Mercedes requires MB 229.51/229.52 for diesel. ACEA C3 is the minimum for any diesel with a DPF. Generic 5W-40 burns into hard ash that destroys the DPF (replacement: ₹32k-2.8 lakh) and lacks the additive package to protect timing chains on direct-injection engines. We use exact OEM-spec only, batch-numbered on your invoice.
Why does the BMW / Mercedes / Audi service light keep coming back?
Almost certainly because the previous workshop used a 'jumper trick' OBD reset instead of resetting via the OEM tool. ISTA (BMW), XENTRY (Mercedes), ODIS (Audi/VW) update multiple counters at once — service distance, brake-fluid timer, oil-quality re-baseline, brake-pad-sensor reset, battery coding. A jumper-trick reset only clears the dash message — the underlying counters are still ticking, so the message returns in 30-90 days. We reset properly with the OEM tool.
How often should I service my car in Hyderabad?
Stick close to the OEM interval, but tighten by 15-25% in heavy city use: oil + oil filter every 8-10k km (vs 10-15k OEM), air filter every service (Hyderabad dust is brutal), cabin filter every 12-15k km, fuel filter every 30-40k km on diesel, spark plugs every 40-60k km on petrol, brake fluid flush every 24 months, gearbox oil every 60-80k km, coolant every 80-120k km. Heavy city or AC-heavy use → tighten further.
What's the difference between basic, standard, comprehensive and major service?
Basic = oil + oil filter + air filter + diagnostic scan + service light reset (every 8-10k km). Standard = basic + cabin filter + brake-pad inspection + AC check + tyre rotation (every 15-20k km). Comprehensive = standard + fuel filter (diesel) / spark plugs (petrol) + brake fluid flush + coolant top-up + AC service (annual or every 20-30k km). Major = comprehensive + spark plugs / glow plugs + transmission fluid + brake pads if needed (every 40-60k km). We follow your car's service schedule precisely.
Why is dealer service ₹15-30k more expensive than yours?
Dealer overhead — showroom rent, brand training, OEM markup on consumables, manufacturer profit share. We use the SAME parts (Mann/Mahle/Bosch OEM-supply filters, Castrol/Shell/Mobil OEM-spec oils) and the SAME diagnostic tools (ISTA/XENTRY/ODIS/IDS), just without the showroom overhead. Service-history book is stamped and digital service history is updated where applicable.
Will servicing at MPS void my warranty?
Under the Motor Vehicles Act and Indian Competition Commission rulings, manufacturers cannot void warranty for service done at independent garages USING OEM-SPEC PARTS. We use exact OEM-spec consumables, document everything (part numbers, batch numbers, photos), and stamp the service book. Many BMW/Audi/Mercedes owners have switched to us mid-warranty without issues. We'll show you the exact spec compliance before any work.
How long does a periodic service take?
Basic service: 2-3 hours (drop morning, collect evening). Standard service: 3-4 hours. Comprehensive service: 4-6 hours (one working day). Major service: 1-2 working days. Brake-pad / brake-fluid work adds half a day. We share photos throughout — old filters, drained oil colour, brake-pad thickness, any wear items found.
